My Ass on the front cover of Simply Knitting magazine

How could I not run with that headline?

I had great fun designing for issue 132 of Simply Knitting magazine, as you can see there is a cute donkey purse on the cover,  it is mine 🙂  I love this little fella!

There was also a cover mount kit with all you need to make a flower corsage, there were a couple of different flowers to choose from.   Happy Knitting, Jane x

Cute sheep, but

Or should that say Butt!  In this months issue of Let’s Get Crafting, Knitting and Crochet Magazine (issue 59) I have a cute knitted purse pattern.  The purse is perfect for storing your bits and bobs and plenty big enough for an iPad mini or similar size tablet.

The sheep is worked using the intarsia method and the pretty flowers are crocheted and slipped over the buttons. It is finished with a zip closure, if you are new to putting zips into your knitted projects I can highly recommend this tutorial from  Knitting Daily.  In the video Eunny Jang shows you Techknitter’s technique for making zippers knitable objects so you can knit them into your garments instead of sewing them in by hand.

I thought the rear of the sheep was missing something and mischievous side got the better of me!

This would make a fab Easter present.

As always I would love to see your finished purse on my Facebook page.

More Pretty little Knitties, or should that be More Pretties to Knitty?

The latest issue of Simply Knitting magazine is in the shops now. It is packed with festive inspiration of the fibre variety.  There are some great Knitted Christmas trees by Lucille Randall, these are definitely going on my Knit List.  Also in this months issue is an interview with Lucinda Guy, I LOVE Lucinda’s work particular, ‘and so to bed’ and Hand Knits for Kids.

Still looking for knitted gift ideas?  I have designed a few quick and simple gifts that will work up super fast, but look like you spent hours creating them!

Back to School Knitted Gifts out now in Simply Knitting

I have just received my copy of Simply Knitting Magazine, issue 111. I am super thrilled with the pictures of my Back to School gifts section, it all has a lovely vintage feel. I was inspired by this (I am guessing) 1950’s Sirdar knitting pattern, I was drawn to its colour palette and back to basics feel.

My favourite design has to be the notebook cover with its tie bookmark!

These patterns are now available on The Making Spot  along with my other previous designs for Simply Knitting magazine.

Also in this months issue are a cute pair of wrist warmers by Kirstie McLeod. I am tempted to cast these on, I love the colours and the simplicity of design.

Simply Knitting Magazine, 6 Summer Gifts

It’s been a busy few months here, it’s always great when the postman arrives with my magazines and I get to see my designs in print.

It’s the best feeling when I make the front cover, I still find myself picking up the magazines in newsagents to check, to be sure I have not dreamt it! I am very lucky to do what I love for a living!
